St. Cloud State Wrestling - 2015 NCAA DII Championships Information Central

The St. Cloud State University wrestling team (17-2, 8-0 NSIC) will compete at the upcoming NCAA Division II wrestling championships on Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14 in St. Louis, Mo. Â The championships this year are being held at the Chaifetz Arena on the campus of Saint Louis University. Â The event is being hosted by Maryville University. Â The action begins at 11 a.m. on March 13 and the final round of competition is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 14.

St. Cloud State will be sending six wrestlers to the NCAA championships on March 13-14 in St. Louis, Mo. This groups includes three-time national qualifiers Clint Poster (157) and Gabe Fogarty (165) along with two-time national qualifier Austin Goergen (285). First-time qualifiers for the Huskies include Tim Prescott (125), Mike Rhone (133) and Larry Bomstad (149).

HUSKIES HEADLINES:
- The St. Cloud State wrestling team finished as the runner up at the 2015 NCAA Division II Super 3 Regional tournament on Feb. 28-March 1. The Huskies scored 109.0 points while Maryville won the tournament with 114.0 points. The Huskies have dominated competition in the Super 3 regional since 2011, which includes first place finishes in 2011, 2012 and 2013; a third place finish in 2014 and a second place finish in 2015.
- Â The Huskies placed sixth at the 2014 NCAA Division II championships and they finished as the NCAA Division II runner-up at the championships in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
- Clint Poster claimed top honors in the 157-pound bracket at the 2015 NCAA Division II regional. He finished the regional with a 4-0 record and remains undefeated this season at 36-0. He is currently ranked number one in the nation at 157-pounds. Poster is a two-time All-American for the Huskies at 157-pounds.
- Austin Goergen also earned his first regional crown with a first place finish for the Huskies at 285-pounds. He charted a 3-0 record at the regional and now owns a 30-1 record this winter with 15 pins to his credit. Goergen scored All-America honors with a sixth place finish at the NCAA championships in 2014.
- Gabe Forgarty placed second at the regional in the 165-pound bracket. He charted a 3-1 record at the regional and now owns a 25-3 record this season for the Huskies. In 2013 and 2014, Fogarty placed seventh at the NCAA championships to earn All-America status for SCSU.
- At 125-pounds, Tim Prescott will bring a 17-8 record into the NCAA tournament. He placed third in the 125-pound bracket for SCSU at the regional with a 3-1 record. At 133-pounds, Mike Rhone placed fourth at the NCAA regional with a 2-2 record. He will bring an 18-5 record into the NCAA finals for the Huskies. The Huskies' Larry Bomstad will bring a 25-5 record into the NCAA championships at 149-pounds. He placed fourth at the regional with a 3-2 record at 149-pounds.
- SCSU has gained 15 All-America finishes at the NCAA championships since 2012. This group includes two NCAA champions – Derek Skala at 184 in 2012 and Shamus O'Grady at 184 in 2013.
- The Huskies completed the 2014-15 regular season with a 17-2 overall record and an 8-0 record in the NSIC. The Huskies claimed their fourth consecutive NSIC championship in 2015.
- In the final NCAA Division II national poll of the 2014-15, St. Cloud State was ranked fourth behind Notre Dame (Ohio), Maryville and Nebraska Kearney. Â Tim Prescott was ranked sixth in the nation at 125, while Poster was ranked first at 157-pounds. Â Fogarty (165) and Goergen (285) were both ranked third in the nation in the poll.
