St. Cloud State Baseball rolls to 12-5 win over SMSU on March 8

The Huskies opened the game with run in the top of the first and then added three more runs in the top of the second inning to gain a 4-0 lead. Â SCSU then scored one run each in the third and fourth innings before earning the game winning runs with two in the top of the fifth. Â A four-run sixth inning for the Huskies iced the game.
On the mound, Reese Gregory was the pitcher of record with five innings of work and eight strikeouts. Â In total, SCSU's pitching group combined for 12 strikeouts in the game and allowed only 10 hits. Â At the plate, SCSU charted 16 hits on the day against SMSU.
Zak Hoffman had a monster day at the plate with two runs, three hits and five RBIs. Â This included a three run homer in the sixth inning for SCSU. Â Eric Loxtercamp had one run, four hits and two RBIs in the game, while Beau Fandel had two hits (including a triple), two runs and two RBIs in the game.
SCSU will continue their 2015 season on March 9 with a game in Phoenix, Ariz. against Bemidji State.
