ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The St. Cloud State University football team (1-2, 0-0 NSIC) looks to end their two-game losing streak and travels to Winona State University (2-1, 0-0 NSIC) for a 2:30 p.m. game on Saturday, Sept. 26, at Warrior Stadium.
SCSU will be playing against Winona State for the 62nd time in a series that started in 1919. The Huskies currently own a 43-14-4 series lead and have won two of the last three meetings since the schools began playing again in 2010. The 61 contests against Winona State makes them the second-most frequent opponent in the St. Cloud State record book behind only the 79 games against Minnesota State (formerly Mankato State).
The last time these two teams played, SCSU charted a thrilling last minute 29-26 victory at Husky Stadium during the 2013 season. St. Cloud State last played and lost at Warrior Stadium to Winona State by a 29-16 score during the 2011 campaign. The schools played annually from 1919-1942 then took a four-year break because of the war effort, briefly restarted the series from 1946-1949, played continuously from 1951-1981, stopped again until 2010 and have played every other year since 2011.

SCSU suffered a rare 21-20 loss to Southwest Minnesota State on Saturday, Sept. 19, at Husky Stadium. The loss to the Mustangs was the first for the program since the 1981 season and only the second time overall that SCSU has lost to SMSU in 18 games. Junior wide receiver Jameson Parsons put up a career day for the Huskies with nine catches for 180 yards. His 180-yards receiving in the game was the eighth-highest single game total in school history and the most for a St. Cloud State player since Eli Shoemaker's 195 receiving yards against Bemidji State on Oct. 27, 2012. Parsons has totaled 15 catches for 276 yards over the last two weeks. Sophomore running back Jaden Huff ran for two touchdowns against SMSU and has reached the end zone five times this season. His five touchdowns are tied for the conference lead. Junior quarterback Nate Meyer went 13-for-20 for 244 yards and also ran for a touchdown. Meyer has thrown for 580 yards the last two weeks and is the top ranked quarterback in the NSIC with his 155.0 passing efficiency. Brady Westart led the defense with his 13 tackles, a sack and 2.5 stops for loss against the Mustangs.
NEXT WEEK:
The Huskies return home to Husky Stadium to host Minnesota Crookston (0-3) at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3. The game is the annual Hall of Fame / Military & Veteran Appreciation Day.
