SCSU Women's Basketball Gains 62-57 Win over Minnesota State

St. Cloud, Minn. – The St. Cloud State women's basketball team took the court at Halenbeck Hall against Minnesota State University, Mankato in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) play this afternoon. The Huskies battled to the final buzzer consisting of eight tied scores and nine lead changes. St. Cloud State defeated Minnesota State 62-57 to extend their winning streak at Halenbeck Hall to five straight.
St. Cloud State improves to 7-4 overall and 6-1 in the conference. Minnesota State falls to 3-7 overall and 2-4 in the NSIC.
St. Cloud State outrebounded Minnesota State, 44-42. The Huskies scored 18 points off of 17 total forced turnovers on the Mavericks.
Five St. Cloud State players scored in the double-digits this afternoon.
Andrea Thomas (Mauston, Wis.) led the Huskies with 13 points. Thomas made five of nine shots from the field and collected five rebounds.
Emma Konopasek (De Pere, Wis.) recorded her first double-double of the season. Konopasek finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Kyli Van Klei (Stillwater, Minn.) and Karissa LeCaptain (Algoma, Wis.) each finished with 11 points. Van Klei made five of eight shots from the field and grabbed seven rebounds. LeCaptain dished out two assists and totaled nine rebounds.
Betsy MacDonald (St. Paul, Minn.) had ten points this afternoon, dished out a team-high four assists and grabbed six rebounds.
Claire Ziegler led all players with 18 points for the Mavericks.
St. Cloud State will return to action tomorrow afternoon as they take on the Golden Bears of Concordia-St. Paul in a 2 p.m. match-up in Halenbeck Hall. The Golden Bears enter tomorrows contest with a 5-7 overall record and sit at 1-5 in the NSIC. They are coming off a 74-64 loss against Minnesota Duluth.
