10/14/2016 10:24:00 PM | Volleyball
St. Cloud, Minn.- The St. Cloud State Volleyball team earned their first conference sweep with a 3-0 victory over Minnesota State, Moorhead on Oct. 14. The Huskies (8-11, 3-7 NSIC) defeated the Dragons (8-10, 3-7 NSIC) 28-26, 25-19, and 25-20 to earn the win.
The two teams started the match very evenly with the teams trading points from the first serve with neither able to go on an establishing run. With the game tied at 26 senior setter Marissa Kline brought out her offensive chops and accounted for the final two points for the Huskies with back to back kills to close the game in the Huskies favor.
The Huskies carried that momentum into set two when they started by getting up on Moorhead by a score of 8-2. The Dragons were down but not out as they rallied back to get back within one point at 12-11, and the match remained close until the Huskies broke away to take the set 25-19.
The Huskies handled the third set in convincing fashion, pulling away from the Dragons early in the set and never let the visiting team get closer than three points in their 25-20 win.
