St. Cloud, Minn.- The St. Cloud State volleyball will travel to North Dakota this weekend for a pair of matches against Minot State University and University of Mary on Oct. 7-8.
The Huskies (6-10, 1-6 NSIC) come into the weekend after defeating Bemidji State 3-1 on Oct. 4 in a non-conference match at the alma mater of Macy Weller, Sauk Centre High School.
St. Cloud State will first face off against Minot State at 7 p.m. on Oct. 7. Last season the Huskies swept the Beavers, sweeping them at home 3-0 and then defeating them 3-2 at Minot State.
In the two teams' first meeting, the Huskies took care of the Beavers quickly on the heels of very efficient offense. St. Cloud State hit .282 on the match, including a .407 clip in the second set. Senior Macy Weller had seven kills and two blocks for the Huskies, while fellow senior Shannon Klink added 5 kills, 3 blocks, and 16 digs.
In the second meeting of the two teams, the play was much more even. St. Cloud State and Minot traded off winning sets, with the Huskies ultimately taking the match after winning the third set 15-11. Klink lead the Huskies in the match with 14 kills and 14 digs, while Weller had seven kills and six blocks, and Marissa Kline dished out 26 assists.
