St. Cloud State volleyball suffers 3-2 loss at Mary

The St. Cloud State University volleyball team (7-11, 2-7 NSIC) lost a close 3-2 decision at the University of Mary (8-10, 3-6 NSIC) on Saturday, Oct. 8 in Bismarck, N.D. The Huskies lost the first set 25-19 before charging back with a 25-16 win in set two and a 26-24 win in set three. The Mauraders staged their comeback in the match with a 25-20 win in set four and a 15-12 victory in the final fifth set.
The loss snapped a two game winning streak for the Huskies, which included recent wins over Bemidji State and Minot State. The Huskies will return to Halenbeck Hall next weekend for a pair of NSIC matches. On Oct. 14, the Huskies will entertain Minnesota State, Moorhead at 7 p.m. SCSU will wrap up the weekend at home with a 4 p.m. date against Northern State University on Saturday, Oct. 15.
Tickets for both home matches can be purchased at the gate and all SCSU students get into these matches for free with a valid SCSU student ID card.
SCSU was led in the loss at Mary by Macy Weller with 14 kills and Becca Gruber with 13 kills. Marissa Kline added 41 assists for SCSU, while Clara Krenz posted 19 digs in the match. Marah Mulso also had five blocks to lead the Huskies, while Krenz had a team-high three aces in the game.
