Football Hosts MSU Moorhead for Celebrate! This Weekend

ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The St. Cloud State University football team (4-2, 1-1 NSIC North) plays its annual Celebrate! game this weekend against MSU Moorhead (2-4, 0-2 NSIC North) on Saturday, Oct. 14, at Husky Stadium at 3 p.m.
The game is also a Red Out where all fans are encouraged to wear the color red to support the program. Â The contest has also been designated as a "Share the Warmth Cold Weather Gear Drive" in a partnership between the athletics department and the school of Health and Human Services and Business Professionals. Â The purpose of the drive is to collect warm weather gear for people of all ages. The drop off point will be the South Entrance of Husky Stadium.

Scouting MSU Moorhead
- MSU Moorhead was leading Minnesota Duluth by a 14-10 score through three quarters, but allowed a pair of touchdowns in the fourth to fall to the Bulldogs by a 23-14 score last weekend
- MSUM's Demetrius Carr threw for 266 yards and a touchdown.
- Grady Bresnahan hauled in nine passes for 146 yards and a score
- Darin Gibson led the defense with his eight tackles and 2.5 stops for loss.
- On the season, Austin Stone is the leading rusher with 96 attempts for 388 yards and five touchdowns.
- Jonathan Kabambi has run for 258 yards
- Carr is 140 for 245 for 1,604 yards and eight touchdowns.
- Damon Gibson leads the squad with 53 catches for 635 yards and three touchdowns.
- Hunter Braaten has picked up 32 catches for 416 yards and four touchdowns.
- Bresnahan has 30 catches for 416 yards and four scores.
- Abe Roehrich is the leading tackler with 42 stops.

- SCSU is 36-23-2 all-time against MSU Moorhead in the previous meetings.
- The series dates back to 1920 with MSUM winning the first contest 27-17.
- The program earned a 41-38 victory against MSU Moorhead last season on the road
- The team raced out to a 27-0 lead only to see MSUM fight back to take a 38-34 advantage in the last eight minutes of the game.
- The Huskies had the answer though and closed out the game with an eight play, 89-yard drive that was capped off by a Jaden Huff two-yard rush for a touchdown.
- SCSU secured the victory despite being out gained 629-464
- Huff, Nate Meyer and Joe Blando all ran for a touchdown.
- John Pass registered eight catches for 172 yards and a touchdown
- Jameson Parsons picked up six catches for 88 yards and a score.

- St. Cloud State scored 42 points in the first half on their way to a 53-27 victory over Minnesota Crookston last weekend.
- The plus 50 points was the second time this season that the Huskies have had more than 50 points in a game.
- Dwayne Lawhorn returned to the lineup and tied the school record with five touchdown passes.
- He is just the fifth quarterback in school history to throw five touchdowns in a game as he joined Phillip Klaphake (1x), Dan Kaczor (1x), Keith Heckendorf (4x) and Mike Leivermann (1x).
- Lawhorn is the first SCSU quarterback to throw five touchdowns in a game since Klaphake during the 2012 campaign (9/29/12)
- Lawhorn also connected on 13 passes for 327 yards.
- It was his first 300 yard passing game of his career and he is the first SCSU quarterback to achieve the mark since Nate Meyer threw for 378 against MSU Moorhead last season (10/15/16).
- Lawhorn is third in the league with his 11 passing touchdowns.
- He has thrown nine touchdowns and accounted for 10 touchdowns his last two games.
- Lawhorn is third in the league in points responsible for (72) and eighth in passing yards (934).

- The team has had 14 games of five or more sacks since Coach Underwood was named head coach in 2008.
- The program has put up 15 contests of 10 or more tackles for loss since 2008.
- Carvel Graham picked off his third pass of the season and returned it for a touchdown for the second time.
- Graham is the first SCSU player since at least 2002 to have two interception return touchdowns in the same campaign.
- He is fifth in the league in interceptions per game (0.5).
- Craig Szymanski recorded a pair of sacks against the Golden Eagles and is the second SCSU player to get multiple sacks in a game this season (Jake Schley – 2 sacks vs. Winona State – 9/9/17).
- Gary Koehring led the team with his 10 tackles plus had a fumble recovery against UMC.
- Jack Horter recorded six tackles and a forced fumble.
- He is third in the league in sacks per game (0.67)
- The team put up a season-high 564 yards against UMC and controlled the clock for the fifth time in six games this season.
- Graham Miller and Stuart Hamann are all tied for 14th in the league in interceptions per game (0.3).
- Adam Stage is sixth in field goals per game (1.00), seventh in the conference in field goal percentage (75.0) plus eighth in points scored (43) and in scoring per game (7.2 points).
- The team is also ranked third nationally in time of possession (34:49) and 10th in run defense (85.3)

- The Huskies are back on the road next week and travel to Bismarck, N.D. to take on the University of Mary on Oct. 21 at 2:30 p.m. at the MDU Resources Community Bowl.
- St. Cloud State defeated U-Mary by a 41-7 score last season at home.
- Nate Meyer ran for two touchdowns and also completed 15 passes for 243 yards and three more scores.
- Nick Greenlund had six catches for 86 yards and two touchdowns.
- Jameson Parsons picked up 102 yards and a touchdown against the Marauders.
- Jack Horter totaled 12 tackles and half a tackle for loss.
- Adam Josephson had seven tackles plus forced a pair of fumbles.
- The program defeated the Marauders by a 42-7 score the last time that teams met on the road to close out the 2015 season.
