Softball Hosts Minnesota Crookston and Travels to Wayne State and Augustana This Week

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The St. Cloud State softball team (29-21, 13-11 NSIC) wraps up the 2017 regular season with six NSIC games this week. The program begins the week with the home finale against Minnesota Crookston (11-32-1, 1-20-1 NSIC) on Thursday, April 27, at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. The team then is on the road for a pair of doubleheaders. The program takes on Wayne State College (11-35, 5-17 NSIC) on Saturday, April 29, for two games starting at 12 p.m. The team travels and wraps up the regular season against Augustana (33-11, 18-4 NSIC) on Sunday, April 30, for a doubleheader beginning at noon.

Senior Day - All
- The St. Cloud State softball team will have one final send off to its seven seniors during the last home doubleheader of the season.
- The seven SCSU seniors are Brianne Hightshoe, Megan Hedstrom, Abby Bunnell, Alyssa Coletto, Rebecca Harps, Jessica Goerger and Jordin Novak.
- The program will also be hosting Fan Appreciation Day as well as Game Show Day where prizes and activities will be going on throughout the day between innings

- St. Cloud State went 4-2 last week with a pair of wins over MSU Moorhead and split doubleheaders against Sioux Falls and Southwest Minnesota State
- The program sported a team batting average of .301 with 24 runs, 50 hits, four, two home runs, 17 RBIs and 62 total bases.
- The pitching staff recorded three shutouts in the six games with a 2.60 team ERA plus 40 strikeouts in 43 innings worked.
- Sophomore Kate Kopeck shutout both MSU Moorhead (4/19) and Southwest Minnesota State (4/24).
- Kopeck reached double figures in strikeouts with 12 against the Dragons on Wednesday.
- She was the first SCSU pitcher to record 12 or more strikeouts in a game since Kelly Franks also fanned 12 in the first game of the doubleheader against Upper Iowa on April 30, 2015.
- Freshman Maya Keating lead the team with a .500 batting average and nine hits.
- Senior Jessica Goerger picked up eight hits including a pair of home runs and seven RBIs on the week.
- Goerger hit a dramatic grand slam to tie the game up against Southwest Minnesota State in the bottom of the seventh inning to send the contest into extra innings.
- Senior Abby Bunnell recorded nine hits and five runs scored plus a pair of stolen bases.
- Kopeck went 2-1 with a 1.35 ERA plus 27 strikeouts in 20 innings worked in four games.
- Senior Alyssa Coletto leads the team with her .357 batting average, 77 total bases, on-base percentage of .439 and 12 doubles this season.
- She is currently 10th in the league in on-base percentage.
- Keating is hitting .349 with 27 runs, 51 hits, 18 walks and 17 stolen bases.
