Softball Hosts Minnesota Crookston and Travels to Wayne State and Augustana This Week

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The St. Cloud State softball team (29-21, 13-11 NSIC) wraps up the 2017 regular season with six NSIC games this week. The program begins the week with the home finale against Minnesota Crookston (11-32-1, 1-20-1 NSIC) on Thursday, April 27, at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. The team then is on the road for a pair of doubleheaders. The program takes on Wayne State College (11-35, 5-17 NSIC) on Saturday, April 29, for two games starting at 12 p.m. The team travels and wraps up the regular season against Augustana (33-11, 18-4 NSIC) on Sunday, April 30, for a doubleheader beginning at noon.

Senior Day - All

The St. Cloud State softball team will have one final send off to its seven seniors during the last home doubleheader of the season.
The seven SCSU seniors are Brianne Hightshoe, Megan Hedstrom, Abby Bunnell, Alyssa Coletto, Rebecca Harps, Jessica Goerger and Jordin Novak.
The program will also be hosting Fan Appreciation Day as well as Game Show Day where prizes and activities will be going on throughout the day between innings

Monique Alyea is hitting .341 with 14 runs, 43 hits, five doubles, three home runs, 15 RBIs and 57 total bases.
Katelyn Wobken sports a .329 batting average, 31 runs, 51 hits, nine doubles, five triples, four home runs, 20 RBIs and 82 total bases.
Rachel Shumaker is hitting .316 with 13 runs, 42 hits, eight doubles, 17 RBIs and 52 total bases
Melanie Alyea is hitting .311 with 21 runs, 42 hits, 11 doubles, five home runs, 22 RBIs.
Nataliah Hopkins has a 4.98 ERA, nine wins, 36 appearances, 13 complete games and 64 strikeouts in 175.2 innings thrown.
Augustana has won 11 of the last 12 games.
The program's games against Bemidji State were canceled on Sunday because of weather.
Sarah Kennedy is one of the leading contenders for player of the year in the conference and is hitting .523 with 47 runs, 78 hits 26 doubles, 12 home runs, 50 RBIs and 142 total bases.
Shannon Petersen is hitting. 368 with 27 runs, 56 hits, 11 doubles, 10 home runs, 38 RBIs and 97 total bases
Kylie Rome is hitting .371 with 22 runs, 52 hits and 17 RBIs.
Kaylee Shorr sports a .373 batting average along with 36 runs, 56 hits and 11 stolen bases.
Samantha Eisenreich has scored 29 runs with 37 hits, four home runs, 23 RBIs and 17 stolen bases.
Lexy Peterson has a 1.71 ERA, a 17-4 record, 14 complete games, 130.2 innings worked and 90 strikeouts,

SCSU Notables

St. Cloud State went 4-2 last week with a pair of wins over MSU Moorhead and split doubleheaders against Sioux Falls and Southwest Minnesota State
The program sported a team batting average of .301 with 24 runs, 50 hits, four, two home runs, 17 RBIs and 62 total bases.
The pitching staff recorded three shutouts in the six games with a 2.60 team ERA plus 40 strikeouts in 43 innings worked.
Sophomore Kate Kopeck shutout both MSU Moorhead (4/19) and Southwest Minnesota State (4/24).
Kopeck reached double figures in strikeouts with 12 against the Dragons on Wednesday.
She was the first SCSU pitcher to record 12 or more strikeouts in a game since Kelly Franks also fanned 12 in the first game of the doubleheader against Upper Iowa on April 30, 2015.
Freshman Maya Keating lead the team with a .500 batting average and nine hits.
Senior Jessica Goerger picked up eight hits including a pair of home runs and seven RBIs on the week.
Goerger hit a dramatic grand slam to tie the game up against Southwest Minnesota State in the bottom of the seventh inning to send the contest into extra innings.
Senior Abby Bunnell recorded nine hits and five runs scored plus a pair of stolen bases.
Kopeck went 2-1 with a 1.35 ERA plus 27 strikeouts in 20 innings worked in four games.
Senior Alyssa Coletto leads the team with her .357 batting average, 77 total bases, on-base percentage of .439 and 12 doubles this season.
She is currently 10th in the league in on-base percentage.
Keating is hitting .349 with 27 runs, 51 hits, 18 walks and 17 stolen bases.
She is 10th in the league in walks and stolen bases.
Bunnell is hitting .353 with 37 runs, 61 hits, three triples, 17 RBIs, 67 total bases and 31 stolen bases.
She is third in the league in stolen bases, fourth in triples and hits and ninth in runs scored.
Jaiden Lund is hitting .301 with 28 runs, 43 hits, 10 doubles, six home runs, 24 RBIs, 71 total bases and 14 walks.
Morgan Emmans is hitting .293 with eight doubles, two triples, five home runs, 30 RBIs, 68 total bases and 19 walks.

Kopeck is 13-9 with 100 strikeouts in her 142.0innings thrown.
She is 10th in the league in wins, seventh in strikeouts and fourth in innings pitched and shutouts (4).
The Huskies rank in the top half of the conference in batting average (.300 – 7th), fielding percentage (.967 – 4th), on-base percentage (.377 – 5th), stolen bases per game (1.54 – 4th) and win/loss percentage (.587 –5th)
