Baseball Slated for Augustana and Concordia-St. Paul in busy home weekend

April 5 games will now start at 2:30 p.m.
ST. CLOUD- The St. Cloud State baseball team (19-7, 10-4 NSIC) will have a busy week ahead as they are set to host both Augustana and Concordia-St. Paul in the coming days.Â

TIME CHANGE! The SCSU vs. Augustana games on April 5 at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud, MInn. will now start at 2:30 p.m. Â The original schedule had the games starting at 1:30 p.m., but the start time for the NSIC doubleheader has been pushed back one hour.
The Huskies will first host a doubleheader against Augustana (18-11, 12-2 NSIC) on April 5 beginning at 2:30 p.m. This marks the first meeting between the Huskies and the Vikings this season. The two teams split their regular season meetings last year with the Huskies opening a weekend of doubleheaders with 18-14 and 9-6 wins. The Vikings rebounded the following day to win 8-3 and 5-1.Â
The last time the two teams met was in the 2016 NSICÂ Conference Tournament, when the Huskies emerged victorious, defeating the Vikings 10-3 en route to their conference tournament championship.Â
The Huskies will return to the diamond this weekend, April 8-9, to begin a weekend series against the Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears (16-10, 10-4 NSIC), who they opened their season against at US Bank Stadium in late February. The Huskies are 26-12-1 in the two teams previous 39 meetings, and are 10-6 against the Golden Bears at home.Â
In the two teams' meeting to open the season, the doubleheader was split with CSP winning game one 3-1, and the Huskies responding with a 7-2 win in game two. Last season, the two teams split regular season action as well, with the Golden Bears taking game one of a doubleheader 7-5, and the Huskies taking game two 11-4.Â
The two teams met twice in the NSICÂ Tournament, with the Huskies defeating the Golden Bears 13-2 and then playing them again in the double-elimination tournament, winning 6-4 to clinch the 2016 NSIC Tournament title.Â
The doubleheaders are set to start at noon on both April 8-9 at Joe Faber Field. Games will start at 1:30 pm on April 8, and noon on April 9. Tickets are still available for both games and can be purchased at the gate.
