
Huskies Extend Winning Streak to Four, Defeat Marauders in Straight Sets

BISMARCK, N.D. – After embarking on the five-hour road trip from St. Cloud to Bismarck, the St. Cloud State volleyball defeated the U-Mary Marauders in straight sets behind a career night from Linsey Rachel.
Coming off of a big night against #6 Minnesota Duluth, it became very evident that Linsey Rachel did not lose her vertical over the last few days.
The freshman outside hitter from Maple Lake, Minn. tallied a game and career high of 12 kills while also charting 20 digs.
Following Rachel was Erin Navratil and Rachel Houle who each put up nine kills in SCSU's fourth consecutive win. Clara Krenz paced the program with 24 digs while Maddy Torve, Marah Mulso and Navratil each posted three blocks.
St. Cloud State improves to 8-2 (4-0 NSIC) after winning in straight sets for the seventh time this season.
In set one, St. Cloud State was able to gain an early lead after going up 12-6. The Huskies put together runs of five and four to put the Marauders down six, but U-Mary did not allow the set to get away from them. SCSU let their lead slip after allowing the Marauders to score seven unanswered points and tie the set at 18 all.
Then, SCSU found themselves in a two point deficit as Mary led 21-19. The Huskies would then roar back and go on a 6-1 run to win the opening set 25-23.
Seven of Erin Navratil's nine kills came in the first set while she also posted a .429 hitting percentage.
In a back and forth battle that consisted of four lead changes, the Huskies were able to control the second set down the stretch and post five unanswered points to win 25-18, and take a 2-0 advantage into the third set.
U-Mary did not go down softly in set three, with another back and forth match that included five lead changes before SCSU posted ten points. Once SCSU scored their tenth point, they did not look back and charted runs of 6-1 and 4-1 to run away with the set. 25-20.
Match point came on a U-Mary service error while SCSU's scoring efforts were led by Rachel Linsey's six kills and Rachel Houle's five in the final set. Linsey also posted eight digs while Krenz tallied seven.
The Marauders fall to 3-9 overall and 0-4 in conference play.
The Huskies will travel to Minot, N.D. to face off against the Minot State Beavers at 12 noon on Saturday.
