GLOUCHESTER, MASS. - Five players from the St. Cloud State University women's hockey team were named 2019-20 Division I Krampade All-American Scholar Athletes by the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA), the organization announced Tuesday morning.Â
Former standout Brooke Kudirka (Omaha, Neb.) became the first player in program history to become a four-time All-American Scholar, as she earned the honor every season she played for the Huskies. Joining her on the list are current student-athletes Laura Kluge (Berlin, Germany), Emma Polusney (Mound, Minn.) Kenzie Wylie (Ham Lake, Minn.) and Annika Fazokas (Zell Am See, Austria). Kluge and Polusney are both three-time honorees, while Wylie and Fazokas earned the award for the first time in their respective careers.Â
In order to be eligible for AHCA All-American Scholar Status, individuals must attain a 3.75 grade point average (GPA) during the fall semester and play in 40% of their team's competitions. A handful of waivers were granted due to injury or for backup goalies.Â
In total, 571 Division I men's and women's players were honored as All-American scholars Tuesday morning, including 56 from the WCHA. All seven teams were represented on the list, while Bemidji State led the way with 15 total honorees.Â
