BURNSVILLE, MINN. - The St. Cloud State University women's basketball team is off to a pretty good start in 2021-22. The Huskies are 3-1 overall and 1-0 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) play thanks to two wins this past weekend over #14 Minnesota-Duluth and Northern Michigan. Forward Nikki Kilboten (Eau Claire, Wis. / Eau Claire North) played a big role in both victories and was named the NSIC North Division Player of the Week for her efforts.Â
Kilboten has earned NSIC Player of the Week honors for the first time in her career after putting up big numbers against the Bulldogs and Wildcats. The fifth-year senior averaged 22.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks over the course of two games while shooting .586 from the floor and .909 from the free throw line. Kilboten opened the week with a double-double, leading St. Cloud State to a 60-54 win over its conference rival by scoring a season-high 24 points and pulling in 12 rebounds. She then added a team-leading 20 points in a 53-35 win over Northern Michigan with seven rebounds and two blocks.Â
Kilboten additionally made some history during the week. The fifth year senior nabbed her 650th career rebound in the win over Minnesota-Duluth and moved to fifth all-time in career blocks. Additionally, Kilboten became the 33rd player to score 1000 career points two weeks earlier in the Huskies win over Newman on November 20.
