ST. CLOUD, MINN. - The St. Cloud State University men's basketball team suffered a Saturday setback at the hands of Bemidji State University. In the second game of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) series, the Huskies fell to the visiting Beavers 87-67 in Halenbeck Hall.
Bemidji State's fast paced offense was just as herky jerky as it was Friday evening, and St. Cloud State truly had no answer, as the team fell into a 46-36 halftime deficit. The Huskies put together furious rallies, both in the first and second half, but it just wasn't enough, as they were outscored 41-31 in the second half to fall by a final score of 87-67.
Caleb Donaldson (Bloomington, Ill. / Bloomington) and Anthony Roberts (Chicago, Ill. / Oak Park) were both bright sports for St. Cloud State Saturday afternoon, as they both scored in double-digits thanks to .500 shooting from the floor. Roberts led the way for the fourth consecutive game, scoring a team-leading 18 points on 8-16 shooting while recording a team-leading nine rebounds. Donaldson scored 14 points on 6-8 shooting, including a 2-2 mark from three-point range, while Josh Tomasi (Melbourne, Australia / Western Colorado) concluded the game with 10 points. Lake Taylor (Germantown, Wis. / Germantown) also contributed a career-high six rebounds.
With the loss, the Huskies overall record falls to 5-7 and they are now 3-5 in NSIC North Division play. St. Cloud State will return to action next Friday when the team travels to Crookston, Minnesota for a 5:30 p.m. game against the University of Minnesota-Crookston Golden Eagles.
