ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Men's Soccer fell 3-1 on the road to Purdue Northwest on Sunday afternoon, tallying their lone goal late in the second half. In the 81st minute, Cullen McSweeney threaded a pass ahead to Emmanuel Iwe on the left side of the offensive half. Iwe made a gorgeous move to shake a defender, raced to the left side of the box and rifled a shot into the net deflecting off another Pride defender. Purdue Northwest scored two of their three goals in the first half.
TURNING POINT
Shortly after Iwe's marker, Purdue-Northwest's Christian Booth drew his second card of the match, presenting the Huskies with an opportunity to play up a man for the final seven minutes. SCSU dominated possession but was unable to put a shot on goal.

QUOTABLES
St. Cloud State Men's Soccer Head Coach Sean Holmes
"We knew we would have growing pains over the course of the season. New facilities, new referees, new opponents, new travel, new everything. It's been new for everybody, and I was concerned after Friday night, I wanted to know how we would respond. We opened with a great deal of composure for such a young team, and I thought we were in good shape. We started to run out of gas as the half went on. Hot day, and a hot day on turf with a late kickoff is always difficult, but we did lots of good things. In terms of solving the challenges of our team I felt we made really good progress today and over the course of the weekend. I'm in a mood where my disappointment is balanced against the excitement of getting back to training on Tuesday to improve our guys. Andres Garcia was a revelation up front this weekend, Eddie Saydee moving to the back and solidifying us in the back was very encouraging. He formed a very good partnership with Vukota Mastilovic. Jake Leonard got his first St. Cloud State start today and was just so simple and effective. He plays with such a lack of ego. Lots of guys 'say' they play for the team – he really is such a great team player and was terrific. As always, Emmanuel Iwe was going to be an impact, scored his goal and caused them problems. Overall, we're still in the growing stages, hence the three keepers in 90 minutes which is not an everyday thing. We wanted to give guys experience for the long 14-game conference log. Two losses on the weekend but great growth. I'm excited to get back to training this week."
