QUOTABLES
St. Cloud State Men's Soccer Head Coach Sean Holmes
"On Friday night I celebrated the fact that we had gotten such a great result and a very good performance from so many young players. The downside of that is doing it twice in a week is extremely difficult. That's a program that has won a national championship, they understand what you have to do to compete, and I thought quite honestly for the first 10-15 minutes we weren't very good, but the game wasn't very good. They do the little things that make the difference – most of their goals came from lapses in concentration and people not following through on their job. That's part of growing, in this league play you have to do it twice almost every weekend. That's part of our growth process and it seems frustrating sometimes, but there were good moments. The whole second half we played essentially with our second XI and that's great experience for some of those guys to get better, to grow and to get their minutes. Young players don't get to come off the bench when it's 1-0 with 10 minutes left, so it's a good experience for those guys to learn and fight a little bit. That's the reason they were picked to finish first or second in the conference and we weren't. Lots of positive things. I think if you watched the game and deleted the goals, you would say, 'Okay, there were some good things.' So, we just have to go back to work on Tuesday and work on more good things and less bad things."
UP NEXT
St. Cloud State continues their seven-game homestand on Friday with a match against UW-Parkside at 7:30 p.m. CST. The game will be broadcast on the NSIC Network.
