Jenniina Nylund earns Bronze at 2022 Winter Olympics

St. Cloud, Minn. – St. Cloud State Women's Hockey forward Jenniina Nylund capped off her first Olympics appearance by earning a Bronze Medal on Wednesday morning as Finland defeated Switzerland 4-0 in Beijing. Nylund becomes the program's first-ever active player to earn an Olympic medal, skating in all seven games for Suomi and scoring one goal during the Olympics.
Fellow Huskies forward Klara Hymlarova likewise enjoyed a strong Olympic showing with the Czech Republic in their first-ever Olympics appearance. Hymlarova scored a game-winning shorthanded goal while playing in four games with Czechia, skating to an even plus/minus.
2022-23 SCSU recruit Laura Zimmermann skated in each of Switzerland's seven games, helping lead the Swiss to an appearance in the Bronze Medal Game.
Of note, Nylund is now the third Olympic Medalist to play for St. Cloud State Women's Hockey, joining Janine Alder (Bronze 2014, Switzerland) and Josefin Pettersson (Bronze 2002, Sweden), both of whom earned their Medals prior to joining the Huskies.
