
Roberts named NSIC North Division Player of the Week

ST. CLOUD, MINN. - The 2021-22 season isn't over for the St. Cloud State University men's basketball team. The Huskies clinched a berth to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) / Sanford Health Tournament in the final weekend of the regular season, splitting their weekend series against Minnesota-Crookston and Bemidji State. Anthony Roberts (Chicago, Ill. / Oak Park) was key to St. Cloud State's success over the weekend and was named the NSIC North Division Player of the Week for his performances Monday afternoon.
Roberts earned his first NSIC North Division Player of the Week this season and second of his career after putting up monster numbers against Minnesota-Crookston and Bemidji State. The junior guard averaged 29.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.5 blocks over the weekend while shooting .523 (29-39) from the floor, including a 9-16 mark in the Huskies win over the Golden Eagles. Roberts scored 22 total points in Thursday's victory and added seven rebounds, three assists, three blocks and three steals, leading St. Cloud State to a 76-71 victory and appearance in the NSIC / Sanford Health Tournament.
Roberts saved his best performance for last, though, as he scored a career-high 36 points in the Huskies 92-89 overtime loss to Bemidji State. Of those 36 points, Roberts scored 31 in regulation and additionally tallied 12 rebounds for his 11th double-double of the season. The junior guard closes the regular season leading the NSIC in points per game and ranks second in total points scored (502).
Roberts and his teammates will open the NSIC / Sanford Health Tournament on Wednesday when they face Wayne State in the opening round. Tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. in Wayne, Nebraska.
