St. Cloud, Minn. – Graduate goaltender Emma Polusny has been named First Team All-WCHA in the league's all-conference release on Thursday following her incredible final season with St. Cloud State Women's Hockey. Polusny chartered a 4-8-3 record with a .925 save percentage and a 2.85 goals against average, set a career-high in single game saves twice and broke the program's all-time career saves record over the course of 2021-22. She is the program's first-ever First Team all-conference recipient.
"Husky Nation is extremely proud of Emma," said head coach Steve Macdonald, "Her career as a Husky has been nothing short of incredible. She has consistently been a top performer within our league, the best league in the country, and has played with such passion and perseverance. Congrats Emma - very much deserved."
Polusny becomes the Huskies' first non-rookie team All-WCHA recipient since she received Third Team honors in her 2017-18 rookie season. SCSU has had at least one player honored by the WCHA in each of the past three seasons, with Klara Hymlarova (2019-20) and Sanni Ahola (2020-21) picking up All-Rookie nods in the last two cycles.
The Mound, Minnesota native played an integral role in the Huskies' 2021-22 season, earning wins over RV Penn State, Bemidji State, RPI and Lindenwood while guiding SCSU to draws against No. 2/3 Wisconsin, No. 5 Minnesota-Duluth and St. Thomas.
Polusny and the Huskies will begin postseason play with the WCHA Quarterfinals on Friday, February 25 at No. 2 Ohio State in a best-of-three series at the OSU Ice Rink. A series preview will be released later Thursday evening.
