
Perbix named HCA Co-National Player of the Month

WAKEFIELD, MASS. - It's been quite the month week for St. Cloud State University men's hockey defenseman Nick Perbix (Elk River, Minnesota). The senior and Tampa Bay draft pick was named the National Collegiate Hockey Conference's (NCHC) Player of the Month after a remarkable January. On Thursday, Perbix was further recognized for his outstanding play, as he was named the Hockey Commissioners of America (HCA) Men's Co-National Player of the Month.
A two-time NCHC Defenseman of the Week, Perbix compiled an impressive statline during the month of January, accumulating 12 points with two goals and a whopping 10 assists in just five games for the Huskies. The senior defenseman additionally made plenty of history during the month, as he became the first skater in program history to record six points in a single game. Perbix additionally matched the school record for single game points (6), single-game assists (5) and single-game assist by a defenseman (5) and became the first Husky skater to hit those marks in 20+ seasons.
In addition to his standout performances against Miami, Perbix tallied assists against Bemidji State and North Dakota during the month of January and scored a goal against the Fighting Hawks on January 29. Since the start of December, Perbix has tallied 18 points in six games and his 20 points ranks second amongst NCHC defensemen and third nationally. Along with Sam Hentges (New Brighton, Minn.), Perbix was named to the 2022 U.S. Men's Ice Hockey Team on January 13.
Along with Perbix, Michigan's Matty Beniers was named Co-National Player of the Month.
The Huskies will return to action on Friday, February 4 when they travel to face #3 Denver at 8:00 p.m. in Denver, Colorado.
