RUSSELLVILLE, ARKANSAS - The season isn't over yet for the St. Cloud State University women's basketball team and Tori Wortz (Hutchinson, Minn. / Hutchinson), though the awards continue to roll in for the Huskies fifth year senior. After earning All-Conference honors in February, Wortz was voted Second Team All-Region by the Division II Collegiate Commissioners Association (D2CCA), which was announced by the organization Thursday afternoon.Â
Wortz adds D2CCA All-Region honors to a long list of academic accomplishments, having been named First Team All-Conference and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Outstanding Senior of the Year in late February. As a fifth year senior, Wortz became the first four-time All-NSIC honoree in program history. During the regular season, Wortz averaged a career-high 14.8 points per game during the regular season while shooting .412 from the floor and .339 from three point range. These numbers helped Wortz move to seventh all-time in career scoring and break the school record for career three pointers made. While her overall numbers are impressive, Wortz was even better in conference play, averaging 15.1 points thanks to her .415 shooting percentage. Wortz scored a team-leading 318 points in 21 NSIC games this season and added 85 rebounds, 56 assists, seven blocks and 27 steals to her statline.Â
Wortz hasn't just impressed on the court during her St. Cloud State career. A three-time Academic All-Conference honoree and two time CoSIDA Academic All-District recipient, Wortz was named both the NSIC Outstanding Senior of the Year and was a recipient of the NSIC Myles Brand Award. She will graduate in May with a cumulative GPA of 3.97 and a degree in biomedical science.
Members of the D2CCA All-Region teams are voted on by sports information directors and athletic communication professionals in the central region.
