#11 Women's basketball ranked third in Central Region rankings

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. - After another trip to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) / Sanford Health Tournament championship game, the St. Cloud State University women's basketball team remained in the top-3 of the Central Region rankings. The Huskies were ranked third in the latest regional rankings, which were released Wednesday afternoon.Â
St. Cloud State was the highest of four teams from the NSIC ranked in the latest Central Region rankings, as the Huskies were joined Minnesota-Duluth (No. 4), Minnesota State (No. 7) and Concordia-St. Paul (No. 10). All four teams from the NSIC advanced to the conference tournament semifinals on Monday, February 28, though those games were not taken into account in the latest regional rankings.Â
The NCAA Central Region is made up of 39 teams from the NSIC, Mid-America Athletic Association (MIAA) and Great American Conference GAC). The top eight teams from the region will advance to the NCAA Regional Tournament, which will take place March 9-13 at a yet to be announced location. Automatic bids to the tournament will be awarded to the winners of the NSIC, MIAA and GAC conference tournaments, and the five remaining seeds will be awarded on an at-large basis.Â
St. Cloud State is one of those teams waiting for an at-large bid after falling to the Bulldogs in the NSIC Championship game Tuesday. The Huskies will find out their fate on Sunday, March 6 during the NCAA Selection Show, which will air at 9:00 p.m. on the NCAA website.Â
