ST. CLOUD, Minn. - St. Cloud State Men's Soccer (1-0-2 GLIAC) tied 1-1 with Truman State (1-0-1 GLVC) Wednesday afternoon in Kirksville, MO. The Huskies lone goal was scored on a wild sequence in which Truman State committed an own goal at the 23 minute mark of the first half. The Bulldogs came out strong after half time to tie it up early in the second half. Both teams held strong on defense to end the match in a draw.
TURNING POINT
After Truman State tied the game at one, neither team was able to gain the momentum on offense to find themselves in a quality scoring position. Truman State lead the game with ten shots while Huskies were only able to generate seven.
TOP HUSKIES
QUOTABLES - Head Coach Sean Holmes
"A 1-1 tie was a fair result given the perform on the day. A hard drive yesterday combined with a 1:00 p.m. mid-day kickoff was hard work for our guys. We had a chance to take the lead several times early in the game and failed to capitalize. 1-0 was a fair halftime score but conceding a goal 15 seconds into the second half was inexcusable. We have to be more composed and resilient from the kickoff every half. Gage Steiner came up big - we are really pleased with his leadership on and off the field. Now we get ready for Colorado Christian."
UP NEXT
The Huskies will return home to Husky Stadium on Saturday, September 3 to host Colorado Christian for a non-conference matchup. The match is set to kickoff at 7:00 p.m. CT.
