Huskies drop four-setter to Beavers on the road
BEMIDJI, Minn. – No. 8 St. Cloud State Volleyball (14-6, 7-4 NSIC) fell in four sets to Bemidji State (8-10, 5-5 NSIC) on Saturday afternoon in Bemidji, dropping the match 25-22, 19-25, 18-25 and 26-28. The Huskies were outhit .213 to .116 as the offense recorded just 42 kills on the night.
Redshirt sophomore middle blocker Sam Zimmerman led the Huskies with 12 kills on .333 hitting alongside two blocks and a pair of digs while junior opposite Natalie Tesch hit .353 with eight kills. Senior outside hitter Kenzie Foley posted her 12th double-double of the season with 11 kills and 18 digs, adding three aces and a pair of blocks.
QUOTABLES – St. Cloud State head coach Chad Braegelmann
"I want to congratulate Bemidji on a great match for them. They fought hard, blocked really well and covered a lot of touches tonight – they played really clean volleyball and made us earn every point we had. They competed and deserved to win tonight."
"For the most part we passed well, when we served in we served tough and made them uncomfortable. We really struggled slowing down their middles – especially on their slides – they were just a little more aggressive than we were tonight."
"It'll be good to see how we respond. The kind of focus we have in practice – with all our young players, we're trying to reset and work on culture – remind ourselves of what it takes to me successful on a day-to-day basis."
