St. Cloud State prepares for lone match of the week against WSU on Saturday
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – No. 9 St. Cloud State Volleyball (16-6, 9-4 NSIC) hits the road and travels south on Saturday for a conference match with Winona State (16-6, 8-5 NSIC). The match is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. CT.

The Huskies jumped back into the top 10 in week eight's AVCA Top-25 poll. St. Cloud State has spent 27 weeks in the Top 10 under head coach Chad Braegelmann.
NSIC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Senior outside hitter Kenzie Foley and sophomore setter Emma Berran were respectively named Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Offensive Player and Setter of the Week by the league office on Monday afternoon following tremendous performances in the Huskies' 2-0 weekend. Foley's Offensive Player of the Week is the sixth of her career honor while Berran earned her third career Setter of the Week honor. Foley led the NSIC in kills/set (5.14) and points/set (5.71) as No. 13 St. Cloud State earned wins over No. 2 Concordia-St. Paul and Minnesota State-Mankato last weekend. The senior double-doubled in both matches to extend her streak to six consecutive double-doubles, producing 24 digs to go with her 36 kills. She added an incredible .514 kill percentage on the weekend while fueling the Huskies to two key wins. Berran's offense soared to the top of the league over the weekend as the setter directed SCSU to a conference-leading 14.57 kills a set on a league best .307 hitting percentage. The sophomore led the conference with 12.71 assists a set and seven aces while posting an incredible 48 assists in a sweep of Minnesota State on Saturday.
LAST TIME OUT
Last week, then-No. 13 St. Cloud State Volleyball (16-6, 9-4 NSIC) picked up two massive conference victories at Halenbeck Hall. On Friday, the Huskies handed No. 2 Concordia-St. Paul (18-2, 9-2 NSIC) its second loss of the season, dropping the Golden Bears in four sets 25-21, 23-25, 25-20 and 25-18. Senior outside Kenzie Foley enjoyed a dominant 22-kill effort, adding 10 digs for a double-double while hitting .326. SCSU defense outdug their rival 55 to 44. Four Huskies finished in double-figures as junior libero Keely Kurschner led the match with 17 and sophomore setter Emma Berran recorded 11 while Foley and senior defensive specialist Allena Shimon provided 10 each. 11 aces helped punctuate the SCSU defensive effort as strong service work kept CSP out of system throughout the match. Berran led with four aces while Shimon added three and Foley posted a pair. Redshirt sophomore middle blocker Sam Zimmerman put away 10 kills on .280 hitting while freshman middle blocker Hannah Bruskiewicz posted eight on .312 hitting as the two combined for seven blocks. Berran double-doubled with 41 assists and her 11 digs, adding four aces and a pair of blocks alongside two kills.
On Saturday, SCSU enjoyed one of its most productive offensive performances of the season in a straight set win over Minnesota State-Mankato (10-10, 5-7 NSIC), taking the match 25-13, 25-15 and 25-21. Three Huskies recorded double-digit kills while four hit .333 or better. Berran dished out 48 assists and saw her hitters record a .585 kill percentage on her sets. Zimmerman paced the offense with 16 kills on a whopping .714 hitting percentage while adding three blocks. Foley hit .333 with 14 kills and 14 digs for a double-double, adding a block to her line. Bruskiewicz produced 11 kills on .474 hitting with two blocks and a dig while junior opposite Natalie Tesch provided seven kills and a pair of blocks while hitting .545. Kurschner anchored a tremendous defensive effort with 12 digs and three aces, helping the Huskies limit Minnesota State to just 26 kills. The Huskies outkilled the Mavericks 51 to 26, leaning on their high-paced attack to keep their opponents out of system throughout the afternoon.
NAVIGATING THE NORTHERN SUN
The Huskies are 58-15 in league play dating back to 2019 and earned the 2021 NSIC Regular Season Championship with a 19-1 campaign, adding two 15-win seasons in that span while establishing themselves as a true power in the Northern Sun. Over that span, nine of SCSU's 12 losses have been at the hands of ranked teams - speaking to the strength of the ever-competitive NSIC. SCSU has finished .500 or better in conference play for four straight seasons and have earned a top five finish in three consecutive campaigns.
DYNAMIC DEFENSE
The Huskies' defense has been nothing short of incredible through their first 22 matches of 2023, limiting opponents to just 10.67 kills/set on .173 hitting and a .326 kill percentage. SCSU has allowed the fewest kills/set in the Northern Sun while boasting the No. 7 hitting percentage defense in the league, adding the ninth-most digs across the conference at 14.72 a set. In conference play the Huskies boast the No. 2 opponent kills defense (10.91/set), the No. 7 hitting percentage defense (.180) and the No. 4 serve receive (1.13 opp. aces/set).
EXPLOSIVE OFFENSE
St. Cloud State enters week seven with one of the most terminal offenses in all of NCAA DII Volleyball, sending down 14.36 kills per set on .243 hitting while boasting an incredible .410 kill percentage. The club's K/S mark ranks seventh in the nation while their hitting percentage is No. 33 across the NCAA. SCSU's current kills per set and kill percentage marks would both be the program's highest since the Huskies produced respective marks of 14.78 in 2003 under Patricia Mickow and .422 in 1998 under Dianna Glowatzke.
