
Krannila Named NCHC Player of the Month

Krannila led the NCHC in goals scored in January, helped the Huskies beat three top-three ranked opponents
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Men's Hockey senior forward Jami Krannila (Nokia, Finland) was named the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) Player of the Month for the month a January, as announced by the league on Wednesday. Krannila produced eight points (five goals / three assists) with a +4 mark on the ice and a .528 mark in the faceoff dot while helping the Huskies recorded three victories over top-three ranked opponents.
Krannila's honor marks the seventh time a Husky has been named the conference's player of the month, as he follows Jonny Brodzinski (January 2014, January 2015), Jimmy Schuldt (October 2017), Patrick Newell (February 2019), Sam Hentges (October 2019) and Nick Perbix (January 2022). He is the second Husky to earn a conference athlete of the month honor this season, following junior goalie Dominic Basse (Alexandria, Va.) earning the Goaltender of the Month honor in October. Krannila was also named the NCHC Rookie of the Month in December 2019.
In the month of January, the Husky senior led the NCHC in goals (five), while ranking third in points (eight) and fourth in power play goals (two). Krannila played a crucial role in the Huskies sweep of then-No. 3 Denver on Jan. 20-21, as he produced four points (two goals / two assists), a +4 mark and was .611 in the faceoff dot while winning NCHC Forward of the Week honors. He also scored a pair of goals against Minnesota Duluth on Jan. 28, marking the fifth time this season and ninth time in his career he has scored two goals in a game.
For the season, Krannila has already produced career-best marks of 15 goals, 16 assists and 31 points with an outstanding +20 mark on the ice. Among national leaders, Krannila ranks fifth in plus/minus (+20), 10th in points (31) and 14th in goals (15).
St. Cloud State returns home for its next series, hosting Miami Feb. 3-4 at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.
