Gentry set to compete for Team USA at the Six Nations Tournament from Dec. 11-15 in Tampere, Finland
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – St. Cloud State Women's Hockey fifth year forward Emma Gentry (Alpena, Mich.) has been named to the U.S. Collegiate Women's Select Team that will compete at the 2024 Six Nations Tournament, as announced by the organization on Thursday. Gentry and Team USA will travel to Tampere, Finland, from Dec. 11-15 for the tournament.
The Six Nations Tournament, which in addition to the U.S., includes Canada, Czechia, Finland, Switzerland and Sweden, marks the third stop on the Women's Euro Hockey Tour. Team USA will compete in this tournament for the first time in 2024.
The six participating countries will be split into two groups. Group A includes the United States, Finland and Switzerland, while Group B features Canada, Czechia and Sweden. Teams will play each team in their group, before the top two teams of each group meet to determine placement in the championship and third-place games.
Team USA opens play on Dec. 11 against Finland at Hakametsä Arena. Puck drop is slated for 7 p.m. local time (11 a.m. CT).
Gentry's upcoming national team appearance will mark the fourth time she has played for Team USA. She has donned the stars and stripes in each of the last two Collegiate Series (2023 and 2024) as well as the 2020 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Junior World Championships, when she helped the U.S. win gold, scoring a goal against Russia in the Semifinals while skating in all five games.
In the 2024 Collegiate Select Series in August at the Canada Games Park in St. Catharines, Ontario, she helped lead the U.S. Collegiate Select Team to a 2-1 record in the three-game series against Canada.
The Alpena, Mich. native leads the Huskies in goals so far this season, with five, and is tied for second in points, with seven. She also leads the team in shots on goal (62) and faceoff wins (118). Earlier this season, she scored her 50th career goal and tallied her 75th career point.
