Posch named to the watch list for top goaltender in college hockey
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – St. Cloud State Men's Hockey sophomore goaltender Isak Posch (Umea, Sweden) was named to the Mike Richter Award Watch List, as announced by the Hockey Commmissioners Association (HCA) on Wednesday. The Richter Award is awarded annually to the top goaltender in NCAA Division I men's hockey. Posch is one of 35 goaltenders to be added to the watch list.
A committee of voters – made up of a cross section of coaches, administrators, scouts and media – will pair down the list to approximately 12 names before ultimately choosing the winner, who will be announced in April during the NCAA Frozen Four.
Posch started every game in net for the Huskies before it was announced on Dec. 7 that he would be out for 10-12 weeks with a lower body injury. He earned three NCHC weekly honors and was named the NCHC October Goaltender of the Month before the injury, as he posted a 9-4-0 mark with a 1.68 goals-against-average, .938 save percentage and two shutouts in 13 starts. He ranks among the NCAA's top-10 in each category, checking in at fourth in GAA, fifth in S% and eighth in shutouts.
