Huskies Fall 4-3 to Bemidji State in Tightly Contested Match

Schaefer and Chapman pick up two wins
Virginia, Minn.- St. Cloud State Tennis (1-3, 0-2 NSIC) dropped their third straight match as they were defeated 4-3 against Bemidji State Sunday morning. The Huskies picked up the doubles point, but were unable to win three singles matches to clinch the victory.
Doubles
In doubles play, the Beavers came up victorious in the first match with a 6-1 win in the No. 1 spot. At the No. 2 position, Claudia Muñoz Perez and Lara-Maria Schaefer responded with a 6-1 victory of their own. To clinch the point for SCSU, Gibby Chapman and Brooklyn Broadwell captured a 6-4 win as the Huskies took a 1-0 lead.
Singles
Moving into singles play, the Beavers took the lead following straight set wins at the No. 2, No. 3, and No. 5 spots. Schaefer came up with her own straight set victory with a 7-5, 6-3 win in the No. 4 spot as SCSU trailed 3-2. Muñoz Perez battled into the third set against Sophie Groen in the No. 1 spot, but would be defeated 6-0, 1-6, 3-6 as BSU clinched the match. Chapman captured a 6-3, 6-2 win in her match at the No. 6 spot to finalize the score at 4-3.

- Lara-Maria Schaefer picked up her third singles match of the year and is 3-1 with a 1-1 NSIC record. All three of her victories have come in straight sets.
