SCSU wins two singles matches
Sartell, MN. – St. Cloud State Tennis (1-5, 1-3 NSIC) took on NSIC newcomer Jamestown and were defeated 5-2 on Saturday afternoon. SCSU would come away with two singles wins.
Doubles
SCSU would open doubles play by taking the first match as Margarita Vinichenko and Gibby Chapman captured a 6-4 win in the No. 2 spot. Jamestown responded with a 6-4 win of their own in the No. 3 spot. In a back-and-forth battle, the Jimmies would come away with a 7-5 win in the No. 1 spot as they clinched the doubles point.
Singles
Moving into singles play, Brooklyn Broadwell tied the match with a 6-0, 6-1 win in the No. 5 spot. The teams would trade straight set wins to tie the match 2-2. Lara-Maria Schaefer came away with a 6-1, 6-0 win in the No. 3 spot. Jamestown took the finale three matches, all in straight sets, to finalize the score at 5-2.
