Huskies Rally from 3-0 Deficit to Beat Cedarville 4-3 in Florida Finale

Huskies take four singles matches
Orlando, FL. – St. Cloud State Tennis (3-6, 1-3 NSIC) produced a come from behind victory as they took down Cedarville 4-3 in their finale match in Florida. SCSU rallied from a 3-0 deficit to secure the victory.
Doubles
Cedarville would secure the doubles point after taking all three matches. The Huskies battled in all three matches, but fell just short with scores of 7-6, 7-5, and 6-4.
Singles
Moving to singles play, the Yellowjackets took a 3-0 lead with straight set wins in the No. 2 and No. 6 spots. Lara-Maria Schaefer put the first point on the board for the Huskies with a 6-2, 6-3 win in the No. 3 spot. Brooklyn Broadwell kept it rolling with a 6-2, 6-2 win in the No. 4 spot to set the score at 3-2. In the No. 5 spot, Gibby Chapman tied up the match with a 6-4, 7-5 win as St. Cloud State was energized with momentum. The match would come down to the No. 1 singles match where Liliana Ruy Sánchez Mendivil took on Diana Ivanikhina. Sánchez Mendivil took the first set 6-3, but would fall 7-5 in the second set. In a back-and-forth battle where the Florida heat was turned up, the freshman came out victorious with a thrilling 13-11 superbreaker win in set three. The Huskies would rally back from a 3-0 deficit to come out victorious with a 4-3 win in their finale match in Florida.
