Huskies Fall 4-3 to UMary in Tight Match

Broadwell adds two wins
Sartell, MN. – St. Cloud State Tennis (1-4, 1-2 NSIC) took to the court against UMary Friday evening and were defeated 4-3 in a tight match. The Huskies would come away with three singles wins.
Doubles
The Marauders would open up doubles play by taking a 6-3 win in the No. 2 spot. SCSU would tie it up as Brooklyn Broadwell and Oriana Grott captured a 6-4 victory in the No. 3 spot. In what was a close battle, UMary would win 6-4 in the No. 1 doubles spot to secure the point.
Singles
UMary would double their lead to 2-0 after a straight set win in the No. 4 spot. Lara-Maria Schaefer put the Huskies on the board with a 6-2, 6-1 win in the third position. Margarita Vinichenko followed and tied the match with a 6-3, 6-1 straight set win. The Marauders momentarily took a 3-2 lead following a win in the No. 1 spot, but Broadwell would tie the match with a straight set win. UMary took the final match in straight sets as they beat the Huskies 4-3 at the Sta Fit Tennis Center.

- Brooklyn Broadwell and Oriana Grott played in their first match as a doubles duo this season and start 1-0.
- Lara-Maria Schaefer improved to 4-1 in singles with her fourth straight set win.
- Margarita Vinichenko tallied her second singles win of the season and is 2-3 with two straight set wins.
- Broadwell notched her fourth singles win of the year and is 4-1 with all four wins coming in straight sets.
