Huskies Fall 5-2 in Tight Match Against Winona State

Schaefer adds pair of wins
Rogers, MN. – St. Cloud State Tennis (3-10, 1-7 NSIC) were defeated 5-2 in a tight match against Winona State Sunday afternoon. Lara-Maria Schaefer came away with a pair of wins in the match.
Doubles
St. Cloud State would take the first match in doubles as Liliana Ruy Sánchez Mendivil & Lara-Maria Schaefer produced a 6-4 win in the No. 1 spot. Winona State would respond with a close 7-5 win in the No. 3 spot before winning 6-4 in the No. 2 spot to secure the doubles point.
Singles
Moving to singles play, the Warriors came away with victories in the No. 5 and No. 6 slots to take a 3-0 lead. Schaefer put the first point on the board for SCSU with a 6-4, 6-1 win in the No. 2 spot. Brooklyn Broadwell tallied a 6-1, 6-3 win in the No. 3 spot to set the score at 3-2. WSU would clinch the match in the No. 3 spot with a straight set victory. Sánchez Mendivil battled into the third set in the No. 1 spot, but would ultimately fall 6-4, 2-6, 7-10 as the score finalized at 5-2 in favor of Winona State.
