St. Cloud State Tennis Travels to Florida for Annual Spring Break Trip

Huskies to play Seton Hill, Gustavus Adolphus, and Cedarville
St. Cloud, MN. – St. Cloud State Tennis (1-5, 1-3 NSIC) travel down to Florida for their annual Spring Break Trip. The Huskies will play Seton Hill on Monday, March 2, Gustavus Adolphus on Wednesday, March 4, and Cedarville on Friday, March 6. The matches on Monday and Friday will start at 10:30 a.m. CT while Wednesday's will begin at 11:00 a.m. CT.

St. Cloud State took to the court for their home opener this past weekend as they played UMary and Jamestown.
Huskies Fall 4-3 to UMary in Tight Match- February 20, 2026
The Marauders would open up doubles play by taking a 6-3 win in the No. 2 spot. SCSU would tie it up as Brooklyn Broadwell and Oriana Grott captured a 6-4 victory in the No. 3 spot. In what was a close battle, UMary would win 6-4 in the No. 1 doubles spot to secure the point.
UMary would double their lead to 2-0 after a straight set win in the No. 4 spot. Lara-Maria Schaefer put the Huskies on the board with a 6-2, 6-1 win in the third position. Margarita Vinichenko followed and tied the match with a 6-3, 6-1 straight set win. The Marauders momentarily took a 3-2 lead following a win in the No. 1 spot, but Broadwell would tie the match with a straight set win. UMary took the final match in straight sets as they beat the Huskies 4-3 at the Sta Fit Tennis Center.

Huskies Defeated 5-2 to Jamestown- February 21, 2026
SCSU would open doubles play by taking the first match as Margarita Vinichenko and Gibby Chapman captured a 6-4 win in the No. 2 spot. Jamestown responded with a 6-4 win of their own in the No. 3 spot. In a back-and-forth battle, the Jimmies would come away with a 7-5 win in the No. 1 spot as they clinched the doubles point.
Moving into singles play, Brooklyn Broadwell tied the match with a 6-0, 6-1 win in the No. 5 spot. The teams would trade straight set wins to tie the match 2-2. Lara-Maria Schaefer came away with a 6-1, 6-0 win in the No. 3 spot. Jamestown took the finale three matches, all in straight sets, to finalize the score at 5-2.

Monday's match against Seton Hill will be the fifth all-time meeting between the programs with SCSU leading the series 4-0. The teams last played in 2022 where St. Cloud State came away with a 6-1 win.
Wednesday's game against Gustavus Adolphus will be match 24 in the series between the teams with the Huskies trailing 3-20. The last matchup between them was in 2012 where GAC won 7-2.
Friday's match against Cedarville will be the second all-time meeting with Cedarville leading 1-0 in the series. The programs first played last season.
Huskies Drop Tight Match Against Cedarville, Fall 4-3- March 4, 2025
For the third consecutive match, the Huskies captured the doubles point with two wins. At the No. 1 spot, the Yellowjackets took the point with a 6-2 win, but Lara-Maria Schaefer and Gibby Chapman responded with a 6-4 win at the No. 2 spot. In need of a win in the No. 3 spot to take the point, Brooklyn Broadwell and Oriana Grott came out victorious with a 6-4 win to secure the point for SCSU.
Moving into singles play with a 1-0 lead, the Yellowjackets took the first two matches in the No. 1 spot to tie the match at 1-1. In the No. 6 spot, Chapman gave the Huskies their first singles with a 6-1, 6-3 straight set victory as St. Cloud State retook the lead. Cedarville captured victories in the No. 3 and No. 2 spots to put them on the cusp of victory with a 3-2 lead. Schaefer would tie the match in the No.4 spot with a 6-4 7(7)-6(4) victory over Susannah Prince. With the match tied 3-3, it would come down to Broadwell and Faith Monson in the No. 5 spot. Broadwell took the first set 6-4, but Monson countered with her own 6-4 victory in set two. Heading into set three, Monson came away with the victory, beating Broadwell 10-4 in the third set as Cedarville took the match 4-3.

The Seton Hill Griffins will begin their spring season this upcoming week with their match against the Huskies. STU produced a 2-3 record in the fall. The Griffins are coming off a 2025 season where they went 4-9 and did not reach the PSAC tournament.

Scouting Gustavus Adolphus
The Gustavus Adolphus Gusties come into this match holding a 7-2 record with NSIC wins against Minnesota State, Sioux Falls, UMary, Jamestown, and Minnesota Crookston. The Gusties are coming off a 2025 season where they produced a 27-8 record and won the MIAC to reach the NCAA Tournament.
GAC currently holds five players that have accumulated 4+ wins in singles in Lanie Davis (5-0), Molly Austin (4-1), Kaya De Bruijn (4-1), Ella De Young (4-1), and Madison Packer (4-0). The Cedarville Yellowjackets come into this match holding a 5-5 record with a 1-1 mark in the spring. CU is coming off a 2025 season where they went 8-14 overall and tallied a 2-7 mark in conference.
