Liliana Ruy Sánchez Mendivil Named NSIC Player of the Week Following 2-1 Florida Trip for Huskies

Sánchez Mendivil went 5-1 across singles and doubles
Burnsville, MN. – St. Cloud State Tennis Freshman Liliana Ruy Sánchez Mendivil was named Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Player of the Week as announced by the league office Monday morning. Sánchez Mendivil went 5-1 across singles and doubles playing in the No. 1 spot for both.
In the Huskies 7-0 win over Seton Hill, Sánchez Mendivil produced a 6-0 win in the No. 1 doubles spot with Lara-Maria Schaefer as well as a 3-6, 6-0, 10-4 singles win.
Against Gustavus Adolphus, the freshman and Schaefer came away with a 7-6 (7-2) win at the No. 1 doubles. She then beat Pavla Yakimova in straight sets by score of 7-5, 6-3.
In St. Cloud State's 4-3 win over Cedarville, Sánchez Mendivil clinched the win over Cedarville for SCSU with a 6-3, 5-7, 13-11 superbreaker win over Diana Ivanikhina in the No. 1 spot. The Huskies trailed 3-0 and battled back to come out victorious.
The freshman sits at 6-3 in the No. 1 singles spot and is 5-4 with Schaefer in the No. 1 doubles spot.
This is the second time that Sánchez Mendivil has been named NSIC Player of the Week this season (February 17).
