St. Cloud State picks up second win of the season
Sartell, Minn.- St. Cloud State Tennis (2-3, 0-2 NSIC) captured their second win of the season as they defeated Minnesota Morris 7-0 Thursday evening. The Huskies captured the doubles point after winning all three matches and then won all six singles matches in straight sets to complete the sweep.
Doubles
The Huskies captured the doubles point after winning all three matches. In the No. 1 spot, Maria Paz Aoki and Johana Brower came away with a clean 6-0 win to put SCSU in position for the point. Brooklyn Broadwell and Oriana Grott followed with a 6-0 win of their own as the Huskies clinched the doubles point. Gibby Chapman and Lara-Maria Schaefer completed the sweep in doubles with a 6-1 win at the No. 2 spot.
Singles
Moving into singles play with a 1-0 lead, Schaefer put the second point on the board with a 6-1, 6-0 win in the No. 4 spot. Brower and Paz Aoki each came away with clean 6-0, 6-0 victories in the No. 2 and No. 1 spots as St. Cloud State clinched the match. Oriana Grott followed winning ways with a 6-0, 6-2 as the Huskies took a 5-0 lead. Broadwell put together her own clean sheet with a 6-0, 6-0 win at the No. 5 spot. Chapman completed the sweep with a 6-1, 6-0 win as St. Cloud State took down Minnesota Morris 7-0.
