Huskies Take Doubles Point in 5-2 Loss to California Pennsylvania

Chapman wins two matches
Orlando, Fla.- St. Cloud State Tennis (2-4, 0-2 NSIC) were defeated 5-2 against California University of Pennsylvania Monday morning. The Huskies took two matches in the doubles portion but were only able to win one singles match.
Doubles
In doubles play, St. Cloud State won the point after taking two of the three matches. The Vulcans would take the first match with a 6-2 win in the No. 1 spot. Lara-Maria Schaefer and Gibby Chapman came away with a 6-3 win in the No. 2 spot as each team now held a doubles win. Oriana Grott and Brooklyn Broadwell came up big for SCSU in the No. 3 spot with a 6-4 as the Huskies took the doubles point.
Singles
Moving into singles play with a 1-0 lead, CUPA won the first three matches in straight sets as they now held a 3-1 lead. Schaefer and Broadwell each battled into the third set of their respective matches, but would come up short as the Vulcans now led 5-1. Chapman captured a third set victory in the No. 6 spot, but the Huskies would ultimately be defeated 5-2.
