Huskies fall 11-5, up next is home opener against No. 11/9 Minnesota State

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – St. Cloud State Baseball (11-11, 7-5 NSIC) dropped the series finale with Sioux Falls (9-17, 4-7 NSIC), 11-5, on Sunday afternoon in Sioux Falls.

SCSU grabbed a 2-1 lead in the third inning following an RBI single from sophomore Wilmis Castro (San Juan, Puerto Rico), but then gave up seven runs over the next three innings and couldn't muster a comeback. Redshirt sophomore Hayden Konkol (Denmark, Wis.) began a three-run inning in the seventh with a solo home run to cut the lead to 8-5, but then the Cougars responded with three straight runs to push the lead back to six.

NOTES

Navratil matched a season-high with three hits while adding a double and RBI. He finishes the series hitting .500 (8-for-16) with three doubles, six RBI and four runs.
The Husky captain recorded his 10^th multi-hit game of the season.
Konokl launched his second home run of the season in the seventh inning while adding his team-leading seventh double. Konkol's two hits marked his seventh multi-hit game of the season.
Moreno had two hits for his eighth multi-hit game of the season.
Junior Wyatt Tweet (Russell, Manitoba) extended his hit streak to 11 games.
Sophomore Will Hess (Hartland, Wis.) had a season-high six strikeouts over 3.0 IP.

UP NEXT

SCSU will next host No. 11/9 Minnesota State for a four-game series at Joe Faber Field. The Huskies' home opener is slated for 2:30 p.m. CT on Friday, March 28. The two teams will then play a doubleheader on Saturday, March 29 at 1:30 p.m. CT and then the series finale at 12:00 p.m. CT on Sunday.
