
Salquist Inks Deal with ECHL’s Wheeling Nailers

Salquist recorded an assist in his professional debut
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State Men's Hockey senior forward Mason Salquist (Grand Forks, N.D.) signed a professional contract with the ECHL's Wheeling Nailers, as announced on March 22. Salquist was a member of two NCAA Tournament teams (2022, 2023) and helped the Huskies win the NCHC Frozen Faceoff championship in 2023.
In his professional debut, Salquist recorded the primary assist on the Nailers first goal on March 22 against Toledo.
Salquist scored three goals and four assists for seven points with two game-winning goals and a .572 faceoff win percentage (368-275) in 36 games in his senior campaign. He closed his career with 16 goals and 24 assists for 40 points in 145 career games, a mark which ranks 47th all-time in program history. He set career-best marks in nearly every offensive statistical category in 2023-24, including goals (seven), assists (12), points (19), plus/minus (+5) and faceoff percentage (.576).
