Davenport University Recap (10/11/26)
The Huskies got off to a hot start as Kingsley Kanu sent a beautiful cross into the box for Andrés García, who put the ball into the back of the netting to give St. Cloud State the early lead in the 4th minute. It took Davenport just five minutes to equalize the Huskies at one, scoring in the 9th minute. In the 24th minute, Kanu once again sent a nice cross into the box to Marlon Seahorn Jr., who waited patiently with the ball for García to come into the box from his left, as he fed it to García who put it through for his second goal of the game. Similar to the first goal, the Panthers responded immediately after the Huskies goal, tying it at two in the 25th minute. Both teams would head to the locker room at halftime remaining tied 2-2.
After the break, Davenport drew a foul which led to a free kick just outside the box in the 56th minute. The Panthers, Charlie Davis, sent a great ball into the box that was headed in for Davenport's first lead of the game. With the Huskies trailing for the first time in the game, they battled for possession to try to equalize. In the 70th minute, Jovan Koceski sent a through ball up field for García, who was in pursuit of his third goal of the game. Instead, García sent a beautiful cross to an open King Dwumah Acheampong, who scored the equalizer to make it a 3-3 game.
The remainder of the game was a tight battle with both teams knowing how crucial a point would be in their journey to the GLIAC Playoffs. In the final minutes, Kanu had a free kick from just outside the box that he sent in front of the Panther keeper, giving Finn Mankowski a great chance at scoring the game winner, but the Davenport keeper was able to use his body to make the save, leading to the 3-3 draw.
