Husky Football Rolls to 57-10 Win over Minot State

St. Cloud State improved to 6-4 overall and 4-2 in the North. Minot State dropped to 3-7 overall and 3-3 in the NSIC North.
Junior quarterback Phillip Klaphake (Princeton) threw for three touchdowns and rushed for two others as the Husky offense rolled up 638 yards of total offense. Klaphake finished the game 10 of 14 passing for 225 yards and three touchdowns. He had seven rushes for 73 yards and two scores.
Junior defensive back Jack Moro (Brookfield) had another big day as he collected two interceptions to tie the school record of nine interceptions in a season. It was his third multi interception game of the season. He collected three interceptions in each of two other games. He has 12 interceptions in his career.
St. Cloud State scored on their first five possessions and gained 388 yards on the ground. The 638 yards of total offense marked the second time this season SCSU has gone over 600 yards. SCSU collected 642 yards against Minnesota Duluth.
Two players rushed for 100 or more yards each. Redshirt first-year runningback Ledell White (Milwaukee, Wis.) rushed six times for 160 yards and two touchdowns. Junior Michael Walker (Walworth, Wis.) produced his third 100-yard game of the season as he finished with 21 carries for 100 yards and one touchdown. The last time two Husky backs rushed for 100 yards in the same game was on Sept. 24, 2100 when Walker (104 yards) and Dante Steward (134 yards) accomplished the feat against the University of Mary.
Three different receivers pulled in touchdown passes. Tyler Allery (Lakeville), Dan Brown (Robbinsdale) and Taylor Berger (Ramsey) each had a touchdown reception.
The Husky defense held Minot to 277 yards of total offense. Sophomore end Jeff Bias (Racine, Wis.) and senior linebacker Mark Martin (Milwaukee, Wis.) had eight tackles each. Bias finished the game with one sack and four tackles for loss. Martin collected one sack and an interception.
St. Cloud State will close out the 2012 season next Saturday at MSU Moorhead. The kick-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
