#3/4 St. Cloud State Grabs 10-0 Victory at Alabama Huntsville

Huntsville, Ala. - The #3/4 St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (7-1-1, 3-1-0 NCHC) penned a new line into its recordbook with a convincing 10-0 victory at Alabama Huntsville (0-9-0, 0-6-0 WCHA) on Friday, Nov. 15 at the Von Braun Center in downtown Huntsville, Ala.
The 10-goal difference tied a team record for largest margin of victory at 10 goals. SCSU also posted a 10-0 victory at Yale on Oct. 30, 2005.
A total of eight different Huskies charted goals in the contest and SCSU outshot the Chargers 47-11 on the night. The evening's scoring opened at 2:19 of the first period with an even-strength marker by defender Ethan Prow.
His unassisted goal was followed at 11:51 of the first by Jonny Brodzinski's second goal of the year, which was assisted by Kalle Kossila. To complete the scoring the first period, Cory Thorson scored his second goal of the year at 19:39 of the first with helpers from Niklas Nevalaine.
In the second period, the Huskies continued its offensive explosion with six unanswered goals. The scoring started with a power play goal by Thorson at 4:01. David Morley and Andrew Prochno each had assists on the play, which snapped a four-game power play goal drought for the Huskies.
A resident of Huntsville, Nic Dowd scored on the power play at 6:28 of the second period. This was his sixth goal of the season and his ninth point of the year. Thorson and Prochno both had assists on the play.
The SCSU power play continued to click in the second with a marker on the advantage by Kossila, which was his fourth goal of 2013-14. Joey Benik had the first assist and Prochno earned the playmaker with the second assist on the goal.
Benik made it 7-0 with his third goal of the year at 9:43 of the second. Thorson and Jarrod Rabey provided assists on the play. Brodzinski then scored the Huskies' fourth power play goal of the second period with a marker at 14:01 of the second. Ryan Papa and Daniel Tedesco each had assists on the play. The helper by Tedesco was his first point as a collegiate player.
The scoring in the second period was finished by a goal from Garrett Milan at 15:27. Brodzinski and Kossila each had assists on the play. Milan has now scored goals in two consecutive games for the Huskies.
The evening's scoring was completed by Tedesco at 12:12 of the third period. The lone assist on the goal was provided by Papa. The goal was the first collegiate goal for Tedesco.
SCSU rookie goalie Charlie Lindgren made his second start of the 2013-14 season and he gained his first collegiate shutout with 11 saves in the game. This marked the first shutout for a Husky goalie since Ryan Faragher scored a 4-0 win at Bemidji State on Feb. 1, 2013. Carmine Guerriero was the goalie of record for UAH with 16 saves and six goals allowed in 29:35 minutes of play. C.J. Groh completed the game for UAH with four goals allowed in 30:20 minutes of play.
