#3/4 St. Cloud State Brings Back Sweep With 4-3 Win

Huntsville, Ala. - The #3/4 St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (8-1-1, 3-1-0 NCHC) completed another road sweep with a 4-3 victory at Alabama Huntsville (0-10-0, 0-6-0 WCHA) on Saturday, Nov. 16 at the Von Braun Center in downtown Huntsville, Ala.
This marked the Huskies' third consecutive road sweep of the 2013-14 season and the victory moves SCSU's record against UAH to 11-0-0 in the all-time series.
The Huskies charged out to a 1-0 lead in the first period with a goal by Cory Thorson at 6:17 with assists from Andrew Prochno and Joey Benik. This was Thorson's third goal of the weekend and his fifth point in the two-game set against UAH. Prochno also added his fourth assist of the weekend on the play.
UAH tied the game at 10:56 with a goal by Regan Soquila with assists from Wade Schools and Matt Salhany, which made the score 1-1.
In the second period, Huntsville resident and SCSU captain Nic Dowd posted his sixth goal of the season with a marker at 8:56. David Morley charted the lone assist on the play for Dowd.
The Huskies ran the lead to 3-1 with a goal by Morley at 13:40 of the second period with assists from Ryan Papa and Nick Oliver. The goal was Morley's second of the season and it was also Oliver's second assist of the 2013-14.
In the third period, UAH scrambled for two goals to throw a scare at the Huskies. At 3:31, Stephen McKenna scored with assists from Craig Pierce and Frank Misuraca to make it 3-2. At 13:51, the Chargers's Matt Salhany converted the power play situation to tie the game with assists from Steve Koshey and Jeff Vanderlugt.
Less than a minute later, the Huskies calmed the storm with the game winner posted by rookie Daniel Tedesco at 14:18. Morley and Papa each posted assists on the play, which was Tedesco's second goal of the season. Morley now leads the Huskies with seven assists on the year, while Papa has six helpers to his credit this season.
In the game, SCSU charted its second consecutive evening with more than 40-shots on goal as the Huskies outshot the Chargers 42-15. On the weekend, SCSU outshot UAH 89-26. In the nets, Ryan Farahger made 12 saves and gained his seventh victory while Matt Larose notched 38 saves for UAH.
On the power play, SCSU was 0-of-5 and UAH was 1-2 in the game.
