SCSU Football Completes 2015 Campaign On The Road Against University of Mary

ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The St. Cloud State University football team (5-5, 3-3 NSIC North) is on the road for the final game of the 2015 season with a matchup with the University of Mary (1-9, 1-5 NSIC North) on Saturday, Nov. 14 at 1 p.m. at the MDU Resources Community Bowl.

SCSU will be playing against University of Mary for the 10th time in a series that started in 2006. The Huskies currently own a 9-0 series lead. Â St. Cloud State defeated U-Mary by a 55-44 score in 2014 with the offense putting up 536 yards (304 rush and 232 pass). Both Jaden Huff and Donte Starlin-Merriam ran for 100 yards in the victory. Huff totaled 28 carries for 128 yards and three touchdowns in the win. Starlin-Merriam rumbled for 121 yards on 13 carries. Nate Meyer completed 18-for-20 passes for 232 yards and two touchdowns against the Marauders last season. The win completed a three-game winning streak to end the 2014 season.

The Huskies won 20-13 in the last game played in Bismarck during the 2013 season. Â SCSU gained 337 yards of offense in the win. Michael Walker ran for two touchdowns and 75 yards. Â

The Huskies lost a close 31-24 game to visiting Northern State on Nov. 7. It was a close contested game throughout with neither team able to open up a larger than 10-point lead at any point in the game. SCSU took its first and only lead of the game at 24-17 late in the third quarter on 15-yard touchdown pass from Nate Meyer to Kasai Farris. The Wolves would answer though with a pair of touchdowns in the fourth quarter including the go-ahead score in the last five minutes to escape with the victory. Senior running back Ledell White led the offense with a season-high 139 yards on the ground. Meyer completed 17 passes and two passing scores. He also ran for another touchdown in the loss. The top target was senior tight end Grant Thayer. Thayer had five catches for 79 yards and a touchdown. Junior linebacker Adam Josephson led the defense with his 12 stops.

Ledell White's 139 yards rushing was the third time he has better the 100 yard mark on the ground this season and the eighth time in his career. White leads the team and is sixth in the conference in rushing this season with 751 yards. His 2,417 career rushing yards is sixth all-time for the Huskies. Despite being held under 100 yards receiving for only the fourth time this season, Jameson Parsons' 74 receiving yards moved him to second on the single season list with 1,152 yards this season. Parsons leads the conference and ranks fourth nationally in receiving yards. He is also third in the league with his average of 19.9 yards a catch. Grant Thayer's touchdown catch was his fifth of the season. Nate Meyer has now thrown multiple touchdown passes in six straight games. Meyer's 4,668 career passing yards is fifth all-time in the record book for the Huskies. He also became just the fifth individual SCSU quarterback to throw 20 touchdown passes in a season with his second touchdown pass of the game against Northern State. Senior center Bret Piekarski tied the SCSU record with his 46th consecutive start. He has started every game the Huskies have played the last four years. Sophomore linebacker Brady Westart is fourth in the NSIC with 7.5 sacks this season.
