SCSU Football Plays Final Home Game Of 2015 Season

ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The St. Cloud State University football team (5-4, 3-2 NSIC North) wraps up the 2015 home season at Husky Stadium by hosting Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference North frontrunner Northern State (5-4, 5-0 NSIC North) for Senior Day/Military Appreciate Day on Saturday, Nov. 7, at 1 p.m. Â Any member of the military can get a free ticket for them and a guest by showing their ID.
The game is also Senior Day for St. Cloud State's nine seniors – OT – Karl Eichinger, LB – Andrew Elliott, WR – Matt Hentges, C - Bret Piekarski, TE – Brandon Richmond, G – Rafael Saez, CB – Jordan Sefon, TE – Grant Thayer and RB – Ledell White.

SCSU will be playing against Northern State for the 18th time in a series that started in 1946. The Huskies currently own a 14-3 series lead against the Wolves. The last time these two teams played, Northern State capitalized on four SCSU turnovers and 12 called penalties to defeated the Huskies by a 45-23 score. SCSU totaled 545 yards of offense in that game. Nate Meyer completed 27 passes for 367 yards and two touchdowns. Ledell White ran 24 times for 112 yards in the contest. The last time these two teams played in St. Cloud, the Huskies won by a 64-7 score in 2013. The programs have met annually since 2001 with lone exception being the 2006 season. The schools also played single games in 1946, 1947, 1980 and 1980. The Huskies and Wolves have split the last four games with each school successfully defending the home field, but overall SCSU has won 14 of the last 16 games of the series. The Huskies have outscored NSU by a 534-208 score all-time, while also tallying a pair shutouts.

The Huskies started fast from the opening kick with a 96-yard kick return touchdown from Vance Barnes in the team's 59-21 victory over MSU Moorhead. SCSU scored 21 points in the first quarter and added 24 more points in the second quarter. The 45 points in the first half was the most points for the program in either half since the team scored 55 points in the first half against Minnesota Crookston during the 2009 season. The kick return score for Barnes was the first for the program since Fred Williams returned a kick for a touchdown during the 2008 season against Minnesota Crookston. The 59 points against MSU Moorhead was the second time this season and 15th time since 2008 that SCSU has scored 50 or more points in the game. Junior receiver Jameson Parsons led the offensive attack with seven catches for 163 yards and two touchdowns. Junior quarterback Nate Meyer completed 14 passes for 264 yards and ran for 96 yards on 16 carries. Jaden Huff led the team in rushing with 99 yards and two touchdowns. Â Sophomore linebacker Brady Westart led the defense with 12 tackles and two sacks. Fellow sophomore linebacker Craig Szymanski total seven tackles and a sack. The SCSU defense picked off four passes in the game with sophomore Jerry Duckworth coming up with a pair of interceptions. Freshman linebacker Jack Horter returned his first career interception for a touchdown. The win on Halloween improved, SCSU to 3-2 on the ghoulish day since 1987.

Jameson Parsons topped 150 yards receiving for the fourth time this season with his 163 yards against MSU Moorhead. Parsons has recorded 100 or more receiving yards in six of the last seven games. With his 163 receiving yards, Parsons became just the fifth different player in school history with 1,000 receiving yards in a season and it is just the sixth time that the mark has been hit. He currently leads the NSIC in receiving yards, 1,078, and is placed fourth nationally. Parsons is also averaging 20.34 yards a catch and has reached the end zone seven times. In the team's five games in the month of October, Parsons caught 32 passes for 660 yards and averaged 132 receiving yards a game. Jaden Huff's two rushing touchdowns against the Dragons gives him 12 rushing touchdowns on the season. He now scored at least a rushing touchdown in seven of the team's nine games this season. Huff leads the conference in rushing touchdowns and ranks second in the league overall in touchdowns scored. His 12 rushing touchdowns ranks him eighth on the SCSU single season list in that category. Nate Meyer threw multiple touchdowns for the fifth straight game with his three for scores against MSU Moorhead. The offense's 552 yards against MSU Moorhead was the fourth game of 500 or more yards this season. Brady Westart enters the week ranking second in the NSIC in sacks with 7.5. SCSU is 14th nationally in third-down conversions at 49.5 percent (55-for-111). The team is second in the NSIC in passing efficiency (156.9) and penalties against (43.2) plus third in total offense (477.7).

Following the contest against Northern State, the Huskies will go on the road for the final regular season contest of the 2015 season with a trip to Bismarck, N.D. to take on University of Mary at 1 p.m. at MDU Resources Community Bowl on Nov. 14.
