SCSU Women's Basketball Defeats Mayville State, 70-51

St. Cloud, Minn. – The St. Cloud State women's basketball hosted Mayville State University in non-conference match-up play this evening. The Huskies came out on top defeating the Comets, 70-51.
St. Cloud State improves to 6-4 overall and 5-1 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). Mayville State falls to 8-6 overall and 2-0 in the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA).
The Huskies shot 46.7% from the field in tonight's contest, compared to Mayville State's 39.1%. SCSU shot 31.8% from the three-point range. St. Cloud State recorded ten steals and forced 21 turnovers.
Three St. Cloud State players finished in the double-digits this evening.
Junior guard Chelsea Nooker (Green Bay, Wis.) led the Huskies with 17 points, six assists, and four steals. Nooker shot 46.7 percent from the field, making 7 of 13.
Senior forward Karissa LeCaptain (Algoma, Wis.) recorded her second double-double of the season. LeCaptain finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Junior guard Betsy MacDonald (St. Paul, Minn.) finished with 12 points and five assists. MacDonald made two of six shots from behind the arc.
Liza Hoglo led Mayville State with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
St. Cloud State will return to action this weekend as they host Minnesota State and Concordia-St. Paul on Jan. 2 & 3. Minnesota State University-Mankato is currently 3-6 overall and 2-3 in the NSIC. The Mavericks most recent win comes over the Golden Bears of Concordia, winning 92-87. Concordia-St. Paul currently stands at 5-6 overall and 1-4 in the conference.
