SCSU Women's Basketball Drops to Wayne State, 87-77

Wayne, Neb. – The St. Cloud State women's basketball team traveled Wayne, Neb. this evening, Jan. 16, to take on the Wildcats of Wayne State. The Huskies fell to the Wildcats with a final score of 87-77.
St. Cloud State falls to 9-7 overall and 8-4 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). Wayne State improves to 11-6 overall and 8-4 in conference play.
The Huskies forced 16 turnovers on the Wildcats. Wayne State shot 62.5% from the field compared to the Huskies 43.8%. St. Cloud State made 9 of 20 from the three-point range while Wayne
State connected on 9 of 13.
Junior guards Betsy MacDonald (St. Paul, Minn.) and Chelsea Nooker (Green Bay, Wis.) led the Huskies with 17 points. MacDonald made 5 of 11 from behind the arc. Nooker dished out nine assists and finished with four steals.
Kyli Van Klei (Stillwater, Minn.) added 10 points and three rebounds.
Paige Ballinger led Wayne State with 32 points, 9 rebounds, and five assists.
St. Cloud State will return action next weekend as they host the University of Mary and Minot State. The Huskies will take on the Marauders of U-Mary and the Beavers of Minot State Jan. 22 & 23. The University of Mary is currently 10-10 overall and 4-8 in the NSIC. Minot State stands at 8-10 overall and 5-7 in the conference.
