SCSU Women's Basketball Falls to Crookston, 70-52

Crookston, Minn. – The St. Cloud State women's basketball team traveled to Crookston, Minn. this afternoon to take on the Golden Eagles of Minnesota-Crookston. The Huskies end their four game winning streak falling to the Golden Eagles, 70-52.
St. Cloud State falls to 8-5 overall and 7-2 in conference play. The University of Minnesota-Crookston improved to 10-3 overall and 7-2 in the NSIC.
At the half, the Huskies found themselves down, 37-36, to the Golden Eagles. St. Cloud shot 45.7% from the field, compared to Crookston's 48.3%. Junior guard Chelsea Nooker (Green Bay, Wis.) led the Huskies at the half with 12 points and five rebounds. Junior guard Betsy MacDonald (St. Paul, Minn.) added eight points and one steal.
In the third quarter, the momentum continued for the Golden Eagles, as they outscored the Huskies 20-6. Heading into the fourth quarter, Minnesota-Crookston gained their largest lead of 21, 65-44, at 7:38. St. Cloud State did manage to outrebound Crookston, 42-32.
St. Cloud State finished the game with a 36.5 field goal percentage, while Minnesota-Crookston ended the game with a 45.6 field goal percentage. The Huskies struggled from thee three-point range, as they made 1 of 11, while the Golden Eagles connected on 10 of 23 from three.
Chelsea Nooker (Green Bay, Wis.) led the Huskies with 16 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 assists. Nooker made 8 of 15 shot from the field.
Betsy MacDonald (St. Paul, Minn.) finished with ten points and one steal.
Alison Hughes led the Golden Eagles with 20 points, 5 assists and 1 steal.
St. Cloud State will return to action tomorrow afternoon as they travel to Bemidji, Minn. The Huskies will take on the Beavers of Bemidji State at 1 p.m. BSU is currently 5-8 overall and 1-8 in conference play.
