SCSU Women's Basketball Drops to Bemidji State, 79-74

Bemidji, Minn. – The St. Cloud State women's basketball team traveled to Bemidji, Minn. this afternoon for a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) match-up. The Huskies came up short, falling to the Beavers, 79-74.
St. Cloud State falls to 8-6 overall and 7-3 in conference play. Bemidji State improves to 7-8 overall and 3-8 in the NSIC.
Junior guard Betsy MacDonald (St. Paul, Minn.) led all players with a season-high 25 points. MacDonald made 9 of 10 from the free throw line.
Junior guard Chelsea Nooker (Green Bay, Wis.) recorded a double-double this afternoon with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Nooker made 8 of 16 shots from the field.
Senior forward Karissa LeCaptain (Algoma, Wis.) finished with 11 points and four rebounds. LeCaptain made five of eight shots from the field.
Tatum Sheley and Sierra Senske led the Beavers with 22 points.
The Huskies shot 36.8% from the field in the first half, along with 30.8% from the three-point range and 75.9% from free throw line. They outrebounded Bemidji 25-19 in the first half and led 44-40 as the buzzer rang. St, Cloud State committed 12 turnovers compared to Bemidj's 16.
Bemidji State posted their largest lead of 13 at 8:08 in the third. BSU finished shooting 46% from the field compared to the Huskies 36.4%.
St. Cloud State will return to action next weekend as they travel to Sioux Falls, S.D. and Wayne, NE. The Huskies will take on the Vikings of Augustana and the Wildcats of Wayne State on Jan. 15 & 16. Augustana holds a 13-3 overall record and are 7-3 in the NSIC. Wayne State is currently 9-6 overall and 6-4 in conference play.
