SCSU Women's Basketball Travels to Augustana and Wayne State

St. Cloud, Minn. - The St. Cloud State University women's basketball team will hit the road this weekend for Sioux Falls, S.D. and Wayne, Neb. The Huskies will take on Augustana on Friday, Jan. 15 at 6 p.m. and Wayne State the following day at 4 p.m.  St. Cloud State is currently 8-6 overall and 7-3 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).  Augustana is currently 13-3 overall and 7-3 in conference play. Nicole Kerkhoff leads the Vikings with 190 points on the season, averaging 11.9 points per game.  Wayne State holds a 9-6 overall record and is 6-4 in the NSIC. Paige Ballinger leads the Wildcats, averaging 14.6 points per game. Â

Chelsea NookerSt. Cloud State University women's basketball currently owns an 8-6 overall record and a 7-3 record in the NSIC. Â On the weekend, the Huskies dropped a pair of road games in the NSIC. Â On Jan. 9, SCSU suffered a 70-52 setback at Minnesota Crookston and on Jan. 10, the Huskies dropped a close 79-74 match at Bemidji State.
Chelsea Nooker continues to lead the Huskies this season with 186 points in 14 games played. Â She is averaging 13.3 points per game and ranks second on the club with 100 rebounds (7.1 rpg). Â A playmaker, Nooker leads the team with 54 assists and 30 steals on defense.
Guard Betsy MacDonald hit a season-high with 25 points in the loss at BSU on Jan. 10. Â On the season, MacDonald has been stellar with 144 points (10.3 ppg) and a team leading 22 treys. Â MacDonald ranks second on the team with 50 assists and also has 11 steals to her credit this winter.
Karissa LeCaptain has been an inside force for the Huskies in 2015-16. Â She paces the club with 110 rebounds and ranks second on the team with 167 points (11.9 ppg). Â She is also the team's top shooter with a field goal percentage of almost 50 percent from the floor.
Chelsea Nooker leads the Huskies this season with 24 blocks.
The Huskies have outscored their opponents 907-892 this season.
SCSU will return to the road on Jan. 15 with a 6 p.m. game at Augustana University. Â The Huskies will complete their NSIC road weekend with a Jan. 16 date at Wayne State College at 4 p.m.
The Huskies are led this year by head coach Lori Fish, who is in her eighth season as head coach at St. Cloud State University.
